Interestingly, while I was editing and fact checking, I learned that among the letters disclosed in 2017was an anonymous one Hansberrry wrote to a lesbian magazine in which she identified herself as a "heterosexually married lesbian."

It's beyond sad that she died so young. She had so much left to accomplish! And I imagine that she would eventually have come out publicly well before 2017.
