Interesting. I can see that reflected in my own life. In my mid fifties now, I’ve been an atheist since I was in my mid teens, yet I still find myself conditioned in many ways to think and behave in a manner consistent with the evangelical Christian values I absorbed as a child.

Much of that is entirely unconscious. I can decide that I value a particular way of thinking or being, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that much is going to change.
