Interesting! If I had University to do over, I would take some art history. It’s always fascinated me and I’m sad that I don’t know more about it.
As it happens, I’ve seen a lot of Sargent’s work, but I’ve never studied him. I didn’t know there was any controversy about his sexuality; I always assumed he had to be gay.
I’m willing to grant that he might not have been, but … wow.
By the way, while I have you here, Esther Spurrill-Jones just turned me on to this incredibly campy Christian musician I think you might be interested in. Back in his day he had a vibe kind of in between Las Vegas showmanship and what I can only describe as high Christian camp, which I didn’t even know was a thing.
I immediately thought you might be interested.
