Indeed, the high social cost of transitioning combined with the vanishingly small percentage of detransitioners is a powerful argument that almost all trans people experience transitioning as a major life benefit.
Attempting to leverage this tiny percentage into an argument against anyone transitioning must be seen as the definition of transphobia. The argument is based on the idea that living as a transgender person must be less socially good than living as a cisgender person.
