Indeed? So if representations of Jesus are supposed to approach historical accuracy in order to avoid blasphemy, how are all the European-looking Jesus figures around not blasphemous?

Well, as you’ve already pointed out, the answer is obviously that non-historically representative figures of Jesus, including figures of Jesus looking African, should not offend people.
