Indeed, Rowling is normalizing transphobia. I mean, sure, transphobia is already normalized for most conservatives and right-wing religious folks.

She’s normalizing it for other people, nominally liberal and progressive people.

She’s making it okay to question trans rights and equality.

And that’s the problem. The people accepting that are the problem. The apathy is the problem.

Rowling’s positions really are extraordinarily harmful to real, marginalized, vulnerable people.

Yet suddenly, we’re faced with the reality of serious people saying that’s okay.

That’s the problem.
