Indeed! Not too many years ago, a friend of mine in Scotland (who is an NHS counseling professional) tried to intervene to get better mental-health care for youthful friend of ours who was on the verge of suicide.
Getting him into any kind of therapy was like moving a mountain. And when he finally was able to access therapy, the number of sessions was minimal, and the work was proforma and unhelpful.
He met four or five times for 45 minutes with a campus counselor who wasn't even psychologist.
Thankfully, his mental health improved, but that was not due to the NHS. What they offered was almost worthless.
