Indeed! I mean, they believe marriage has "sanctity," that it is mostly or primarily a holy, religious function, which is bad (and false) enough. Worse, they agree with their Church that it's necessary to fight to withhold marriage from those their Church disapproves of.

It's tough to get past that kind of aggressive bullying attitude, to get past the presumption that religious people SHOULD fight to enforce their religion on people of other or no religions.

I never have been able to get past that with my own mother or siblings. I wish you more success!
