Indeed, and what better way to illustrate that than to point out that the Heartstopper graphic novels by Alice Oseman are are among the most frequently targeted by Moms For Liberty and other book banners.
Heartstopper is a series of graphic novels about a pair of high school boys in England who fall in love. They date, they travel to Paris with their school, they struggle with exams, and they have some typical teenage drama.
What they don't have is sex. They don't even talk about sex, other than to use euphemisms to say they aren't ready for it.
Yet the so-called Liberty moms jump up and down screaming and shouting (often, quite literally... At school board meetings) that the books are pornographic and sexualizing.
Of course, what they really mean is that gay and bisexual relationships are unacceptable to them, and that no child should ever be able to read about them, even when they contain absolutely no sex.
