Indeed! And pews are emptying out in response, as people seek healthier alternatives. Will Church leaders respond?

So far, a large part of the Catholic Church in the U.S. (the institution is somewhat diverse) seems to be reacting with increasing stigmatization and even persecution of LGBTQ people.

That seems to be a recipe for increasing irrelevance and emptier pews. In general, people are turned off by overt acts of unkindness and particularly so when the acts are committed by religious leaders.

On the other hand, people who remain because the unkindness appeals to them may tend to further amplify unkindness.

We shall see what we shall see.
