Indeed, and one wonders if Peterson has ever traveled. I've traveled in places where cultural beauty standards are very different from what they are in the US/Canada/ Europe cultural paradigm, and at least once upon a time you didn't have to go very far. When I was younger traveling in Mexico, it didn't take me very long to realize that many men there seemed to be doing most of their wolf whistling at women who would be considered overweight (and therefore probably unattractive) in the United States, while ignoring thinner women. Not to defend wolf whistling of course.
This was my first direct experience with how much beauty is learned rather than wired into us.
