Indeed and already. I was raised to believe that U.S. politicians are held to high legal standards and are not exempt from criminal law. I was raised to believe presidents are not kings.
Yet in my lifetime I've seen reactions to Trump's crimes create the principle that president may not be held accountable for crimes while they hold office.
And now, we see a former president being treated with kid gloves for his crimes, as if having been president makes him special.
To me, all of this is anathema and entire contrary to supposed U.S. values.
