So often I find myself described as being overly “PC” when I I ask people not to use the word “gay” as a general insult or expression of distaste.

My request is not too much to ask. It’s not over the top. It’s not unreasonable.

I’m a gay man.

My sexual orientation is not an insult.

There’s nothing “PC” about asking people to refrain from being dicks.

And that’s how I so often experience opposition to civility and decency. I experience it as people insisting on their right to be dicks.

They certainly have that right, of course.

But having the right doesn’t mean that they aren’t uncivil or that they aren’t indecent.

Threat to liberal society, indeed.
