In something of a twist of irony, one of the other stories published in Prism & Pen today is by a therapist writing about counseling a couple through grief after their 15-year-old nephew was murdered in an anti-LGBTQ hate crime at an LGBTQ teen socializing event. I responded to her story by recalling an FBI warning to the director of a similar recurring event.
The director told me that she had to stop the events for a while, eventually moving them to an undisclosed location — lest somebody shoot up a roomful of queer teenagers drinking punch and playing board games.
Speaking of not caring about individual children.
