"In almost every case, they had direct personal experience of the problem they were seeking to solve, which shows how discrimination against LGBTQ people can have wide impacts on employment, housing, health, safety, financial wellbeing, and more."

Absolutely! And, you know, there is crossover between archetypes. A perfect case in point is Housing Works in New York City, an innovative, entrepreneurial-ish organization dedicated to expanding affordable housing for working class people.

Housing Works was founded at the height of the AIDS crisis by Act Up members who recognized that lack of housing was a major obstacle to treatment and care for women and men living with HIV and AIDS, especially in NYC's underserved Black and Latino communities.

Today, Housing Works is a major driver in the creation of affordable housing for all people in NYC. Few remember its roots in LGBTQ/HIV communities, but the legacy of socially driven activism/entrepreneurship lives on.
