In a way, that’s encouraging, Sherry. It’s great to know that people are abandoning the Catholic Church over matters of basic humanity and morality.

In other ways, it’s depressing to read the American Catholic press. Plenty of editorialists have condemned the violence, but I can’t find anyone chastising the bishops or calling for fundamental change in the Church. It’s all a tempest in teapot. Nobody seems to care enough to really raise a stink.

I wonder how that 14-year-old boy feels, the one who was stomped into the ground by a gang of grown men?
