I’m wondering how well I’m going to be able to convey this to younger readers, Gwen, who haven’t personally experienced the Cold War, and don’t have any personal memories of the antipathy most Americans and Russians shared for one another.

It’s different for the US intel officers in the story, because (like me) they spent years studying with Russians and reading Russian literature. They’re acclimated.

So, other characters in the story are going to need to demonstrate just how real the instinctive antipathy is.
