I'm with you! I have tended toward tearfulness all my life. I cry pretty frequently. When I was a little boy, that sort of okay, but I experienced intense pressure as I grew to stifle tears and vulnerable emotions — to be more like a man and less like a girl.

Of course, this is one of those negative stereotypes about gay men, isn't it? Claims that we're too emotional and that we're too likely to cry are part of the standard tool kit of homophobia.

That's one of the reasons I wear my emotions and my tears on my sleeve with Pride — as an important form of resistance to heteronormative, patriarchal societal demands.
