I’m very pleased to see that my own high school was among those where a majority of students walked out to protest this bill and other proposed anti-LGBTQ laws.

Iowa has a majority of Republicans on the voting rolls, but Iowa does not have a particular reputation for intolerance compared to red states like Tennessee, Kentucky, or Texas.

So to see Iowa lawmakers jumping on the anti-LGBTQ bandwagon is worrying.

This particular bill will probably not pass, but some of the other ones will. We live in frightening times.
