I’m the former owner of a plastics recycling plant in the United States, and I can attest that at least here, plastics recycling does next to no good at all for the environment.

For it to have significant impact, government policies would have to go into place to encourage it and make it economically feasible.

But even doing that would have little environmental impact compared to dramatically reducing the production of plastic in the first place.
