I'm sure you're right about student speech. SCOTUS has been very clear about that issue. Sadly, with teachers, some school boards in the U.S. have had success in banning what they categorize as "political signage" in suppressing LGBTQ speech on school property. Other districts have had policies like this go into effect, and legal challenges are still pending.
