I would be personally very happy if Catholic pews continue to empty out at a fast clip. As long as Catholic leaders and theologians continue morally condemning transgender and gay people in extraordinary, harsh language, I would hope that every decent human would take great pains to stay away from the Church.

But that's just me; I take objection to the Church teaching school children that I commit "acts of grave depravity." Imagine that. I'm filled with utter contempt and loathing for the Catholic nuns and priests , knowing they cannot take their positions without affirming that dehumanizing teaching.

Sure. Judgmental religion has a lot to do with this whole problem.
