I’m sure that’s very true.

In fact, I was planning on posting a story this evening about the Anglican vicar and his wife who were once very close friends of mine in Montreal.

I changed my mind, though, because I’d like to offer it to a Medium publication first.

In my own personal experience, mainline Christian denominations are often very accepting or affirming of LGBTQ people.

Sadly, where I come from in the United States, and where I live again now after being gone for decades, mainline Christian churches are few and far between.

Evangelicalism, with all that says about condemnation of LGBTQ people, is the principle flavor of Christianity around here.

And of course, politically speaking, it’s the evangelical churches and the Roman Catholic hierarchy (though not necessarily most Catholic people) who organize so powerfully to hurt LGBTQ people.

I recognize that Christianity is not monolithic.

I wish more Christians were like my friends the Anglican vicar and his wife.
