I'm really surprised by the prevalence of snake oil advertisements that saturate media, particularly social media like YouTube. Take this pill to slow down aging, or take that pill to miraculously burn fat at night. I get inundated with messages like that, probably because Google has figured out that I'm older and have health problems. I thought it was against the law in the United States to make false medical claims in advertisements, but clearly some lawyers somewhere have found ways around that.
I click away as soon as I see the contact, but some people don't. My dad was constantly wasting money before he died on snake oil he believed effective because of false advertisements that targeted him online.
I wish we could do something legally to crack down on this.
