I’m pretty sure I read that article, and if it’s the one I’m thinking about I even commented.
But whether it’s the same article or not, plenty of people get really emotionally worked up over respecting transgender people.
By that, I mean they get really emotionally worked up refusing to respect transgender people.
Right before I read your article, I read about a school teacher in Virginia who resigned in tears at a school board meeting. She resigned because she refuses to respect her transgender students' pronouns, and she objects to participating in diversity training about systemic racism.
It’s hard for me to imagine why anyone would insist on being mean to a child. Whether this teacher wants to admit it or not, transgender children are real. She does not have live her life in any particular way, but acknowledging that other people are different has to be part of her job as a public school teacher.
As a human being, respecting people’s identity is just a bare minimum.
Human beings who don’t like transgender people need to start learning how to play well with others. They need to start applying for lessons we all learn in kindergarten.
