I’m not so sure that dysphoria is the distinguishing element in terminology here, Dunemi Moore.

Transgender people are transgender because their gender identity differs from their biological sex. I think most transgender people describe having experienced dysphoria, but it’s not the dysphoria that makes them transgender.

I think the polite term today for men who enjoy crossdressing but who are not transgender is crossdresser.

Transvestite as a label was already on its way out in Carla’s day, but that’s the label she liked for herself, so I respect her choice.
