I'm not so sure about that. I grew up Evangelical, and I have a close-up perspective on how ignorant, superstitious, and hateful Evangelical Christians are — and how anxious they are to hurt people who don't kowtow to their religious superstitions.

Most people hate Evangelical Christians for a very good reason — Evangelical Christians are (as a rule) morally revolting people who invite hatred of their religious beliefs and practices.
