I’m not harassing you. I didn’t name you in my original article, because nothing you wrote about Queer Eye was offensive or insensitive. I was using the severe LACK of meaningingful content by actual LGBTQ writers to make a point and to support an observation.
I was writing about institutional bigotry.
I noted later on Facebook, after you promoted the story again knowing it appears in a publication that systematically excludes LGBTQ writers, that people who support homophobic institutions might as well be homophobic themselves. The effect is the same.
You can think of that as skewering if you choose to. I call it important truth telling. If it it makes you angry to hear that, I can’t be responsible for your reaction.
The fact is that thinking about systemic and institutional bigotry is important. That’s the kind of bigotry that drives the oppression of us LGBTQ people in the United States.
If you don’t want to hear from me, by the way, you have two effective choices that don’t involve complaining that I’m harassing you. 1. You can not reply to my comments. 2. You can block me.
Otherwise, I read just about every story on Medium tagged in LGBT. I always comment if the subject interests me. I will continue to do that just as I did in this exchange — respectfully and informatively.
