I'm not by any means a stickler for formal grammar, though I endorse your general sentiment. Especially since I sometimes spend large portions of my time editing other people's work for clarity. 🤣

I don't mind putting the commas in the right place, maybe correcting an odd misspelling, or rearranging a dangling participle. As an editor, I need to feel useful, after all.

But when it all adds up to not being able to understand what you're reading without struggling, then yes ... Your advice to use Grammarly or something like that is quite practical!

I try to give articles I read the benefit of the doubt, to not go into editor's mode and try to fix things in my mind.

But with some writers it's easier than with others. 😉
