I’m not attempting to make any kind of an in-depth comment here, I just want to observe that when I lived in Manhattan I knew a lot of elderly people who used to live in affordable apartment buildings where Lincoln Center stands today. Very few people remember this anymore, but demolishing that affordable housing was intensely controversial at the time, with low-income Puerto Rican, Black and Jewish people violently evicted from their homes so rich people would have a nice place to go to the opera.
