I'm just enough older than you to have experienced staying negative as my one job. I was still a relatively young man when effective HIV treatment finally happened, but I lived my formative years in the era when AIDS (as much as we fiercely denied and fought back) was almost an inevitable death sentence.
Back around the the turn of the Millennium when I first started hearing stories about seroconversion as fetish, I had a hard time accepting it was true, especially since a close friend and lover of mine had seroconverted in the early 90s not as fetish but as despair-induced suicide.
This chapter vividly illustrates a phenomenon I find hard to understand. Thanks for writing it so clearly.
