I’m getting to that age where I should probably get more routine medical care. But I avoid it by instinct, because with the bare bones insurance I have, it’s probably more expensive than I want to pay, and it’s next to impossible to find out what the cost is going to be in advance.

The lowdown is that I just don’t go to the doctor unless I absolutely have to. Like if I’m in so much pain I can’t sleep at night or something of that order.

I have a friend in the UK who really didn’t understand why I don’t go to the doctor more until I spelled out the expenses to him. He was pretty shocked.
