I’m also writing and publishing new fiction on Medium even though it never gets close to half the attention as my essays. Sometimes I feel like I have to force myself to write and publish fiction on Medium.

And that’s a shame, because I shouldn’t be looking for that dopamine rush of stats feedback. I should be focusing on my writing.

Medium is wonderful for writers, but it has a downside too. It can discourage us from pursuing our best writing.

And that’s definitely something to be resisted. If we can.
