I'm afraid that to the Evangelicals I was raised with, the passage that says that is interpreted to mean everyone should become a Christian. After that, it's all fair game. The same Christians who say that follow that sentiment have no problem telling women they may not preach, pastor churches, or otherwise exercise power in church. Ask them how they square that with New Testament teachings, and they'll have tons of pat answers. Just like they did when they used Christianity to justify slavery and Jim Crow, the latter of justification of which I heard preached constantly from the pulpits of Baptist churches.
