I’m a runner. I’ve run thousands of miles through suburbs. I’m a white man, and never, not for one single second, have I felt less than perfectly safe.

Know what else? I’ve been curious about construction sites and poked around to satisfy my curiosity.

It never would have occurred to me that doing so could put my life in danger.

The only thing I disagree with about your article (and of course I don’t actually disagree) is that this wasn’t just a murder. It was literally a lynching.

Yes, bringing it up might stir up tension, but the people responsible for that tension are the murderers, not the folks bringing it to light.

Without the publicity, the men responsible for the lynching would never have been brought to justice.
