If you think James Martin is a hopeful sign, I’m afraid your expectations are immorally insufficient. I’ve read the man defend the Church’s vile and loathsome branding of LGBTQ people as disordered and depraved.

That’s just shocking and revolting. The Church’s doctrines with respect to LGBTQ people are nothing short of revolting, and they constitute hate speech by any commonly accepted definition.

If somebody called me “depraved” or “disordered” to my face, that would probably legally constitute fighting words.

And Martin has defended that language. Fuck James Martin. He’s a piece of shit.

My nieces and nephews go to Catholic schools and learn in their religion classes that gay people are depraved and disordered.

Let that sink in.

If don’t find that horrifying and absolutely unacceptable then you need to either own your homophobic bigotry, or do something to stop being complicit with evil.

Lots of Christian Churches exist. People can choose one with fucked up, evil doctrines or not.

If the Church can’t change, if can’t or won’t admit admit that LGBTQ people are the moral equals of cis and straight people, then one can only hope and pray that the pews continue to empty out, that good and decent people go elsewhere.

I won’t tolerate being called depraved. Fuck that. Your article trying to minimize that does nothing other than make excuses for horror.

People like you make me sick. I am so fucking exhausted reading filth like this that minimizes the evil underlining vile belief systems.

I see Ken Wilson has already replied to you. I wanted to be even more pointed than him. You’re defending evil. You need to wake up and do better. Your article is disgusting.
