If you can manage one day, you should visit the Orangerie museum in Paris, which besides having a lovely little impressionist collection in its intimate, well lit galleries, boasts the world's first immersive art installation - several of Van Gogh's enormous water lily paintings making up the better part of curved walls. You can stand in the center and take them in at once, or stroll slowly around the circular room immersed in the detail. It's an extraordinary experience!
