If David/Carla were still alive, they would be well over 90 years old. When I knew them, David identified as a gay man who didn’t come out until late in life. He advertised his Carla alter ego as the “oldest working transvestite dominatrix prostitute in Manhattan.”

Talk about a niche.

During the almost ten years I knew him, David seemed genuinely happy to be living out his lifelong dream.
