“If children have rights, they could refuse to be home-schooled, plus it takes away parents’ rights to physically discipline their children.”

"If" children have rights. Wow. This is not a topic I've ever looked into very deeply, and I had no idea serious people advocated for the concept that children do not or should not have human rights independent from the human rights of their parents. That's just astonishing.

Less astonishing, of course, is the cast of characters involved. Dobson of Focus on the Family is so unapologetically hateful and evil that he's one of those people who "won't die, he'll just nasty away."

Bolsonaro infamously told the Brazilian people he would rather have a dead son than a gay son. Then he implied he'd be willing to kill his own child, suggesting other Brazilians do the same.

And groups of homophobic/transphobic American Evangelicals partnering with Russian oligarchs? Unfortunately, that doesn't surprise me because I know it's going on a lot. I know Evangelical leaders are openly embracing authoritarianism and authoritarian regimes.

But to see it spelled out like this is pretty chilling.

Thanks for this excellent reporting!
