If a publication refuses a priori to accept the writing of a of a person who has pro LGBTQ views, that publication is engaging in unjust discrimination based on homophobic bigotry. Calling them out on that is necessary, moral, and absolutely appropriate. If you don’t understand that, then there is something wrong with you as a moral human being.
