I’d really like to know why I keep getting alerts from Medium about self-help articles. There are two things I will not read on Medium: self-help articles and listicles.

What is this self-help emphasis, anyway? My feed is jammed full of it and Medium is constantly pushing alerts at me.

Is this stuff really that popular? Are people really waiting with bated breath to learn the secret hack to “Start Your Day With The Confidence You Deserve?”

I mean seriously, am I the only person who throws up in my mouth when I see something so vapid and banal?”

Medium almost has me trained to flick notifications away without even looking at them. They are practically always by people I don’t follow and who don’t write about things I’m remotely interested in.

And the only way I can read the articles I count on from the authors I value is to browse my personal Network feed.
