I wrote three novels in number two pencil, part of a writing process that involved later typing out the manuscript into Word. I liked the flexibility of being able to use my eraser, but the discipline imposed by not being able to substantial revisions on the fly. This kept me writing onward instead of getting bogged down in details that could wait for later.

I often used a small disposable pencil sharpener while doing that, and I would line up as many as 20 sharpened pencils before I started a writing session. 🤣
