I wouldn't do a funeral service with a coffin for my partner either. I don't know, to me it was just a macabre idea, even though that's the custom.

Fortunately, in my case, nobody had a say about how the funeral would go except for me.

So I waited a few weeks and then had a memorial service with an urn and Lenny's portrait on display. I spoke, his friends and family spoke, and we all remembered the good times together before eating and drinking together and trying to celebrate his life.

Maybe some people were disappointed I didn't do a traditional funeral, I don't know. But I thought the way we did things worked really well.
