I wonder if sexual orientation plays a role, then? I don’t have as many social media followers as John does, but I get a steady streams of insults, threats, and harrassment, most of them simply mocking, but quite often actually vague references to violence.

Of course I know women have it much worse on the Net. I don’t dispute that for a nanosecond. I just find John’s experience to be very much unlike my own.
