I wonder if Pope Francis, the globe's chief transphobic asshole, is aware of this. The pope once again blasted trans people last week in an uneducated, spiteful screed in which he called anything beyond the gender binary selfish and contrary to God's plans.

I wonder if he knows that his own Church in Mexico celebrates people who live beyond the gender binary?

I actually had no idea, myself. It's weird, because Catholic nuns and priests are constantly screaming about the need for human beings to reproduce. Like that's the central purpose of human life and their god's desire. I won't comment on how senseless and ignorant they are, but I do find myself asking how the Church in Mexico ends up celebrating people who consider themselves a third gender and outside the reproductive pool.

I'm sure those superstitious nuns and priests have some rationalizing explanation for why gender-diverse people in Mexico are cool, but why they're "destroyers of nature", as the pope puts it, elsewhere.

But then, I guess there isn't much point being rational about it, because this is the same Church that has resisted rationality and science for centuries, persecuting scientists to the point of even killing them if they disagreed with Church superstition.

Don't expect a leopard to change their spots.
