I woke up at 5:00 this morning to let the dog out, and through sleep-blurred eyes I caught a glimpse of the street lamp on the corner, of a muted globe of yellow light swimming with thick snowflakes.

For just a second, I was transported back into that magical world where snow days were days of joy.
