I wish more people would focus on how disingenuous a lot of political posturing about trans youth really is. When Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton issued his ridiculous legal ruling a couple months ago that gender-affirming care for trans kids is child abuse, he went on for pages about the dangers of surgery and hormone replacement therapy, despite the fact that surgery never happens in Texas for trans kids under the age of 18 and that hormone replacement therapy even in teens of 16 and 17 is rare and already tightly gate kept by medical professionals.
You'd never guess that from public reaction, though. People scream about mutilation, castration, and permanent life-altering hormones as if these things are actually happening to children.
Paxton, of course, absolutely knows they aren't happening. He didn't write those pages because he's actually concerned about it, he wrote them to enrage his supporters and get out the vote.
