I wish I had grown up in the same kind of religious traditions you did. I learned in Sunday School, as I’m afraid too many people still do today, that with being a good Christian is about displaying righteousness and separating yourself from “worldly,' sinful people unless you’re trying to convert them.

Kind of the opposite of love and kindness.
