I wish I could understand this apparent panic about gender identity and presentation. I’m hard-pressed to understand why anti-trans advocates even care.

To say the moral indignation is overwrought is to grossly understate the high emotions involved.

Anti-trans activists aren’t so much worried about kids being harmed as they are white hot with fury over transgender identity.

I write supportively about transgender issues sometimes, and when I do it’s inevitable that I will attract comments from TERF types who are blindingly angry at me. They are so invested emotionally that I’m afraid they would want to physically hurt me if they were with me in person.

Anyone that emotionally invested is naturally going to go to great lengths to produce arguments dismissing transgender people and reality.

The big question for me, and I think an important one in general, is why are these people so fired up. What had got them so angry about other people experiencing gender differently than they do?

Where are the anger and fear coming from?

I wish I knew.
