I was really big into science fiction and fantasy when I was younger. More sci-fi than fantasy, tbh. Of the fantasy I was most into, Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman were near the top of the list. And I read George RR Martin, to the point that I'm still irked with him for failing to complete his magnum opus series Song of Ice and Fire. (The film series is a pale substitute.)
My favorite author at the moment (ask me tomorrow, and I'll give you a different answer) is the French novelist Philippe Besson. I discovered his break out "In the Absence of Men" years ago shortly after he published it, and I have eagerly anticipated his new books ever since.
I guess I'd peg his novels as literary fiction, and that's probably the genre (or non-genre, lol) that I've been reading the most lately.
